Across Australia Trek update No 4
Here’s the final update from our trekkers across Australia. They say it’s been a mammoth journey with a couple of hiicups and they have quite a story to tell when they get back to the East Coast of Australia and home to Brisbane.
Day 19 and they crossed the WA border. All fruit had to be eaten and vegetables cooked before entering quarantine check point.
The scenery was magnificent with the beautiful Kimberley Ranges and Boab trees along the way.
Next stop was Kununurra fr two nights, which was the last rest day before Broome.
Left Kununurra day 21, Sunday morning, 7 August - only 5 more days and 1,000 klms to go! Here’s a video of the Model ‘T’ Kununurra departure…
Couldn’t resist this line up at a rest area - the Air Force were on their way to a training camp on the WA coast.
Day 25 and they made it to Broome!!!!!
Day 26 and it was time to dip the front wheels in the Indian Ocean after dipping the back wheels in the Pacific on the East Coast prior to starting the trek accros Australia.
Here’s a video of the momentous event. Watch all the way until the end……does Merv get the Model ‘T’ back out?
Friday, 12 th August and Merv and Margaret took up their position on the beach at the Caravan Park for the amazing “Stairway to the moon”. What a way to finish the trip, relax and think about the trip. Well done to all travellers and support teams!
