Run with LAMA to Wolston House

The LAMA (Lockyer Antique Motor Association) Club invited AMVCQ members to join them for a visit to the historic Wolston Farmhouse on Sunday November 4th.

A good roll-out of their members were joined by five of our members in what was a most enjoyable day. The AMVCQ was represented by two A30s (the Parkers and Wrights), Ken Gehrke’s A55, the Moses’ A60 and Nairn’s Freeway. Ken and Paula arrived in their A90 Atlantic, towing the LAMA club trailer which very cleverly turns into a barbecue. One other Austin attended; an A40 Devon owned by LAMA member, Merv Hodges.

Wolston House is definitely worth visiting; the National Trust of Queensland acquired this one of few remaining mid-nineteenth century farmhouse around Brisbane in 1965. It is well presented with Kitchen and Laundry, Dining Room, Bedroom, Sitting Room, Cellars and Garden open for view. We had morning tea which was provided by Wolston House on one of the verandahs at the back with a superb view of the Brisbane River. At lunch time, Kev opened up the barbie and we had lovely snags and salad under the large trees at the front of the house.

All in all, a very pleasant day and thanks to Kev and Paula for inviting our club and for organising the day.
