Club run to Esk

Beautiful Autumn weather greeted us in this Sunday morning, 14 April 2019; a few of us met at Cameron Park in Ipswich, while others from the Northside came through Kilcoy to get to Esk.

At Cameron Park, it was great to see one of our earliest members, Warren Heaton (member no 9) being brought to the start by James and Kaye Whyte in their A40 Tourer, once owned by Warren. A quick and easy run from Ipswich via the Brisbane Valley Highway got us to Esk where the Northsiders and those from surrounding areas met us at the Esk Memorial Park in Highland Street.

At 10:30 we faced what looked like a daunting roller-coaster ride up Highland Street to Lakeview Park for morning tea. This seems to be undiscovered even though it has sheltered tables and a great outlook. Very few people came near us, and at midday we headed back to Esk and then onto O’Shea’s Crossing, another under-used park with ample shade and parking.

The usual picnic lunch and good talk ensued and from there we all left to go home. Those in Austins included the James & Kaye Whyte A40 Tourer, Brian & Lorraine Wright A40 Somerset Convertible, Bernie & Madonna Bianchi A40 Devon, Kev & Paula Airton A90 Atlantic, Andrew Todd A30 Countryman, John Elsol Lancer, Merv & Margaret Thompson Freeway Wagon and Nairn Hindhaugh Freeway Sedan. They were joined by Rex Eaton & Neal Hicks, Don & Irene Carlill and Glenn & Heather Todd, all in moderns.
