AOA 2019 - Final Day Report
Friday 27th September saw the finals of the Rocker Cover Races and then it was a free day to go sightseeing around the Barossa or do a bit of work on the car to get it home.
There are so many wineries and other attractions in the Barossa, it would be difficult to know where to start. I joined Kev and Paula for a look at Maggie Beer’s Farmshop. We got there early enough that they were barely open, but it gave us enough to look around the gardens, have a coffee and sample some of the jams on offer. We were joined by the Wrights, and then suddenly a couple of large tourist buses hove into view, so it was time to go. Maggie Beer’s is a charming place and to have a coffee overlooking a dam full of tortoises was a highlight.
From there we went off to sample the delights of the Saltram Wine Estate and a light lunch before a free afternoon.
The final dinner was that evening at Chateau Tanunda. Below are some of our members enjoying themselves on the Wednesday night dinner after we all received our bucket hats.
The Friday night’s dinner meant saying our goodbyes to those friends we have made over the past 28 years of AOAs. The Austin Seven Club of South Australia are to be congratulated for being excellent hosts and providing such an enjoyable five days as well as raising much needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The next AOA? It was announced on the Friday night that the 16th AOA will be at Port Stephens in NSW in August 2021. Hope to see many AMVCQ members and Austin enthusiasts there!
